‎Blend.PK starts to show user suggestions in job searches and beefs up account security.

Feature Update

Blend.PK introduces two new features:

1. Public profile names - you can now specify a custom name for your public profile e.g. your name or your organisation name etc.
2. LinkedIn import - you can now fill information in your Blend.PK profile from your LinkedIn profile in just one click without sharing your LinkedIn password.

Blend.PK starts free text search.

We have started to do free text search. We used to filter the stop-words(in, the, and etc.) from the queries but now we have completely changed our searching algorithm, making every word of the job post searchable. For the visual purposes we have started to highlight the matched words in the search result.
We are also launching the beta version of the spell checker to improve query resilience. The algorithm of the spell checker is based on Levenshtein (edit) distance. Currently, it can correct spellings within an edit distance of 2.
The scope of Blend.PK has been increased to include those sites that post jobs listed in the newspapers.

Blend.PK implements new compression algorithm

Yesterday Blend.PK shifted its indexing system to use the newly implemented compression algorithms. The shift not only cut the storage requirements by 40% but also improved the overall performance of the system. System seems to be running quite stable after the change but lets keep our fingers crossed for the moment.

About Blend.PK

Blend.PK is a job search engine for Pakistan. It finds jobs posted across different sites of Pakistan and makes them available to the general public. Blend.PK is all about searching therefore special measures are taken to make jobs highly searchable; just to give you an estimate each job on average can be searched by around 400 different base queries while each of these base queries can exist in unlimited number of sentences of natural language. Blend.PK employs very efficient indexing techniques and queries are served in less than 0.5 seconds on average.

Blend.PK supports Natural Language Search and Keyword Search. Natural language search allow users to query Blend.PK just like they would ask question to any other human being e.g. "Jobs for software developers in lahore" will return jobs for software developers in lahore. You can also use keywords to search for jobs e.g. "management lahore" will return management jobs in lahore. Some advanced searching features are also available.
